Saturday 2 July, Hackforth Village Hall
This meeting had fewer people than usual but we still managed great discussions and a really interesting tour of the hall. Topics ranged from what activities were the most popular, looking at local U3A as a user of the hall with new long and short programmes, Charitable Incorporated Organisations, energy use and food hygiene and how to run a great bar in a village hall.
Hackforth run a very successful community night on Fridays where people come along and make a donation to cover their drinks and this makes it a lot easier to administer and everyone has a good time.
We were all very impressed with their bar which has two beer pumps and they buy their beer in boxes not barrels or keg from Wylam Brewery in Newcastle. Who knew you could buy beer in boxes!
Yet another great discovery from a Community Building network meeting .
